Casino Night Update

No more bets…

The latest DFSCA organised function – a Casino Night – was held at Princes Park on Friday 20 November 2009. The attendance was lower than previous years with only 50 people turning up which was probably as a result of the cancellation of a couple of games in the run up to the event affecting promotion of the evening (as well as other events on the night).

However, the event proved very popular with those who did attend. The various roulette, poker and blackjack tables were busy all night as people tried to amass as many chips as possible to see who would walk off with the prizes at the end of the evening.

By close of play, Dave Skinner (DFC’s co-chairman) was a clear winner with over 21,000 chips to his credit and he walked off with the first prize of a £50 Bluewater voucher (handy for the Christmas shopping). The minor places (second and third) were shared by Bob Price and Steve Irving (DFC’s vice chairman) who won a plant and box of chocolates, respectively.

The DFSCA Committee would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to the evening including the table sponsors – Shenley Road Garage, St Albans Road Flowers, Mobile Bar Hire and Protosheet Engineering.

On a final note, we also ran a special musical chairs event which raised £90 for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal. This was a close fought affair with Steve Irving displaying some particularly competitive tactics towards the eventual winner (whose name unfortunately escapes me!).
